Before earning his Juris Doctorate, he earned a degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. GETTING TO KNOW John
If you weren't in the legal profession, what would your alternative career be?
I would probably move into technology or finance. I think I would have liked to pursue something in biotechnology.
Which fictional lawyer or legal character do you resonate with the most? Why?
Perry Mason. I connect with his focus on investigation and preparation, and that big cross-examination that brings the whole case to a dramatic finish.
If you could create a new law, what would it be and why?
A law that fights bureaucratic waste and bloat, so money reaches the people it was meant to help. I am hopeful new technology like AI will help spot those inefficiencies and guide the work to fix them.
If you could have a legal-themed superpower, what would it be and why?
The ability to review case materials fast and build clear, step-by-step lines of questioning on the spot. I am more of a plodder and over-preparer, and I respect attorneys who think quickly on their feet in the courtroom.
