Getting to Know Blake
If you weren't in the legal profession, what would your alternative career be?
I would be a story teller! Whether it be screenwriting, novels or music. I love using creativity to tell a story to provoke thought, emotionally resonate, entertain, convince, or simply be heard.
One of the reason’s I love the practice of law, is that I get to find a theme in the client’s case, and in certain ways through the legal process tell that client’s story.
Which fictional lawyer or legal character do you resonate with the most? Why?
Michael B. Jordan plays Bryan Stevenson in the film “Just Mercy”, who currently practices death penalty appellate work. I resonate with the portrayal of Bryan Stevenson because I too believe that people should be advocated for in spite of the mistakes they may have made in the past.
If you could create a new law, what would it be and why?
That pets should be legally considered children or dependents rather than property.
If you could have a legal-themed superpower, what would it be and why?
To consume information at 10x the speed (there is a lot of reading)
