Paralegal

Alexis Ceballos is a dedicated paralegal with five years of experience in family law, holding a Paralegal Certificate from the University of Arizona and a Legal Document Preparer Certification from the Arizona Supreme Court. Her personal experience with her parents’ divorce during college deeply inspired her commitment to helping clients navigate the emotional and legal complexities of family law with empathy and clarity. Known for her active listening, attention to detail, and compassionate approach, Alexis works alongside attorneys to ensure clients feel supported, understood, and empowered throughout their legal journey.

Ashley Sexton is a family law paralegal who started out as a receptionist and worked her way up over three years to where she is today. She grew up in Dallas, Texas and Phoenix, Arizona before graduating from Northern Arizona University, and she now stands out at her firm for her attention to detail, great organization, and care for her clients. Outside of work, Ashley loves reading, watching movies, and spending time with friends because she believes there should always be something fun to look forward to.

Jasmine is a family law paralegal with nearly four years of experience who started as an Administrative Assistant and worked her way up because she wanted to help families get through tough times in court. She has a Bachelor of Science in Criminology from the University of Missouri and a Paralegal Certificate from the University of Arizona, and she is known for being calm, caring, and hardworking with every client she helps. Outside of work, Jasmine is a busy and loving mom of six kids who enjoys reading, yoga, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.

Jazmine is a family law paralegal with five years of experience who grew up involved in the court system herself, which is what inspired her to help other families through the same challenges. She earned her Master of Science in Criminal Justice from Grand Canyon University and is especially passionate about child custody cases because she believes every child deserves to be protected and cared for. Outside of work, Jazmine loves spending time with her husband and her dog Nala, watching basketball and baseball, trying new restaurants, and traveling to new places around the world.

Phonecia is a family law paralegal with 12 years of experience who started as a receptionist and grew into a dedicated legal professional known for her compassion and thoroughness. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Justice Studies from Arizona State University and brings extra understanding to her clients because she has personally been through a divorce herself. Outside of work, Phonecia is a proud mom of three kids who loves food, cooking, spending time on the water, and visiting her home state of Hawaii as often as she can.

Shalet is a family law paralegal with over 10 years of experience who grew up in a split home and has used her own personal experiences to better understand and help her clients through difficult situations. She is known for being caring, optimistic, and easy to talk to, which makes her clients feel comfortable and always kept in the loop on their cases. Outside of her work, Shalet brings a natural warmth and awareness to everything she does, and her clients often describe her as not just a great advocate but also a true friend.

Sarah is a client advocate at Modern Law who joined the team in January 2023, bringing firsthand experience with the Arizona family court system after having to navigate a custody case on her own without an attorney. She is currently studying for her Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Health at Grand Canyon University and hopes to one day become a Marriage and Family Therapist. When she is not working or studying, Sarah loves spending time with her three daughters by camping, exploring new places, cooking, and having cozy movie nights at home.

Tiffany is a NALA Certified Paralegal who has spent her entire career in family law, driven by her own experience growing up as a child of divorce and a genuine desire to help others through the same process. With nearly two decades of experience, she is known for being approachable, detail oriented, and deeply caring toward every client she works with. Outside of work, Tiffany loves spending time with her husband, kids, and dog Rebel by camping, off roading, fishing, and taking photos of nature during her travels.

Jason X. Diaz is a paralegal with deep roots in family law and a background that spans real estate, landlord and tenant law, civil court, and small claims from his years of legal work in New York City. He is known for making clients feel comfortable, informed, and confident that they are in good hands. Jason has a straightforward approach: he breaks down legal jargon into plain language so clients always know where they stand. Outside of the office he is a kickboxing instructor, a mixed martial arts coach, a USA Boxing official, and is currently learning both French and ASL. He brings that same discipline and drive to every case he works on.

Aris Aneshansley brings a unique combination of legal knowledge, organization, and genuine compassion to her role as a legal assistant. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Legal Support and Services from Purdue University Global, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 2020, and a Wedding and Event Planning Certification from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. With a background in estate planning and the City of Tucson Prosecutor’s office, she knows how to support clients through some of the most sensitive and stressful moments of their lives. Aris is the kind of person clients can count on to keep them informed, make them feel heard, and guide them through the process with patience and care. She brings that same level of dedication and attention to detail to every case she touches.

Vanessa is an Arizona native and family law professional who graduated from Arizona State University in 2022 with a Bachelor of Arts in Forensic Psychology, a degree she pursued after losing both of her parents just five days apart. She is bilingual in Spanish and English and is known for being a great listener who genuinely cares about helping families feel comfortable and supported during hard times. Outside of work, Vanessa is a proud mom of three daughters who loves going to concerts and spending time with her friends and family.

Legal Assistant

Julia is a newer member of the Modern Law team who is finishing her Bachelor’s degree at Arizona State University and is excited to be building her career in family law. She brings a warm and genuine approach to her work, shaped by years in the service industry and a strong belief that making people feel heard and respected makes a real difference. Outside of work, Julia has a fun mix of interests including Taylor Swift, Pokemon, and small adventures, and she is even an ordained minister who can officiate weddings, funerals, and baptisms.

Caitlin Lindahl

Director of Facilities, Finance, and Tech

Caitlin is the Administrative Specialist at Modern Law and the longest standing employee at the firm, known for her loyalty and her ability to keep the office running smoothly no matter what comes her way. She is often the first face clients see when they walk in and has a natural talent for connecting people with exactly who they need to talk to, even without a legal background. Outside of her role at the office, Caitlin is a strong advocate for mental health and has used her own personal experiences to help bring counseling resources to the Modern Law team.

Human Resource Manager

Rebekah is Modern Law’s Human Resource Manager with nearly 20 years in the legal profession, a Master’s in Social Work, and a background spanning family, juvenile, probate, and personal injury law among others. She is known for being approachable and empathetic, always making sure the people around her feel informed, supported, and comfortable. Outside of work, Rebekah is a soccer mom who loves traveling, having visited over 20 countries, working out, reading, and indulging in her favorite food, cake with buttercream icing.

Sarah Encarnacion

Director of Marketing

Sarah Encarnacion is the Director of Marketing at Modern Law and a passionate advocate for anyone navigating divorce, domestic violence, or unstable home situations. She joined the team in 2021 as a Client Advocate before earning her current role through her dedication to client satisfaction, her sharp eye for data, and her background as a social worker for Arizona DCS, where she spent years doing court preparation and working closely with Assistant Attorney Generals on juvenile law cases. That experience gave her a deep understanding of how overwhelming the legal process can be for everyday people, and she has made it her mission to bridge that gap. She is a caregiver by nature, a thinker by practice, and someone who shows up fully for the people she serves.

Marketing Operations Manager & Events Lead

Marjon is the Marketing Operations Manager and Events Lead at Modern Law who holds a degree in Psychology from Oregon State University, and is the creative brain behind the firm’s social media presence. She is a devoted wife and mother of four kids and brings the same care, empathy, and determination to her role that she gives to her family every day. When she is not working, Marjon loves reading, spending time outdoors, cooking, traveling, and exploring new food scenes with her family.

Kat is an Administrative Specialist at Modern Law who brings over 15 years of experience in banking and collections to her new career path, and is currently working toward a degree in Criminal Justice. She grew up on the island of Guam and has carried a deep appreciation for diversity and the power of truly listening to people, which she considers her greatest professional strength. When she is not at work, Kat loves thrift shopping, hosting tie dye parties, doing macrame, camping, and traveling with her husband and dogs.

Sara Mae came from a background in education and brings a deep love for helping people, especially children, to everything she does. She has personally been through a divorce and grew up as a child of divorce herself, which is what drives her passion for making sure clients feel safe, heard, and supported throughout the process. Outside of work, Sara is a proud boy mom, a hot yoga lover, and a published author of five children’s books focused on emotional wellbeing and personal growth.

Shane Harper holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations from Virginia Commonwealth University and came to family law through years of hands on work in clinics and legal aid settings, where he helped hundreds of people through some of their toughest legal moments. He is driven by a strong belief that justice should be accessible to everyone and is known for making clients feel genuinely heard and cared for rather than just another case. Outside of work, Shane loves being outdoors whether he is hiking, swimming, sailing, or traveling and trying new spicy foods along the way.

Tyler Helms holds a Bachelor of Science from Arizona State University and came to family law after a career in corporate sales and billing because helping people felt more meaningful than working with numbers. As the first point of contact for clients, he focuses on making every person feel welcome and comfortable from the very first conversation. Outside of work, Tyler is a guitarist who shares his home with two dogs and an elderly cat, and he looks up to Atticus Finch as someone who embodies the kind of integrity he values most.

Mia Damon is a client advocate of Modern Law who holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English with a Minor in Political Science from the University of Arizona, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She came to family law naturally, having grown up around the field through her father who was a family law attorney. Mia is compassionate, curious, and genuinely motivated by helping people find clarity during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. She makes sure every client feels heard, supported, and confident that someone is truly in their corner.

Mandie Alean is a bilingual client advocate who is fluent in English and Spanish and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Linguistics from the University of Arizona. She comes to Modern Law with experience from the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, where she worked on prosecution, criminal justice, and civil cases. Mandie is people centered by nature and brings a calm, clear, and supportive presence to every client interaction. As a mother of three, she understands firsthand how much stability and clarity matter for families going through difficult times. She is here to make sure every client feels heard and confident throughout the process.
