Henry’s professional calling is working on behalf of families and children, especially when domestic violence is an issue. Henry grew up in rural Colombia on a coffee farm and was the victim of horrific domestic violence by his father. At thirteen years of age Henry ran away from home. Literally. On foot, Henry ran. He joined the circus and sold dirty joke books. He hitchhiked on the road and and found a horse in Mexico, and traveled the world. He traveled South, Central and North America before obtaining asylum in Canada. He met his wife there, proposed three days later and, eighteen years later, the couple has two middle schoolers. Henry practiced law with his father in law for ten years prior to his retirement. After his Father in law’s retirement, Modern Law had the honor of welcoming him to the firm. As you can probably tell from his story, Henry is a fighter. He’s creative, passionate, resourceful, and full of life. Henry Alzate brings ten years experience and the zeal of a newer attorney to every case he tries.
Henry’s super powers
Henry is a fantastic listener and a creative litigator. Henry loves the constitution of the united states and thought he would work on civil rights and criminal defense matters. He practiced workers compensation, civil business litigation, bankruptcy, and personal injury. His first family law client was a close friend of his. He was drawn to the personal and emotional connection and was committed to representing her. Family law found him and afterwards, he knew this was the area he needed to practice within. His childhood and background makes him all too familiar with personal pain and struggle. While many lawyers cannot handle the emotional toll that family law can take, Henry loves it. He was built to serve his family law clients and takes his roll as a counselor an advocate very seriously. Any client who works with Henry is lucky to have him, his passion, his experience, his commitment.
When Henry arrived in Canada in 2000 he had a fifth grade education and had worked in sales for the circus, he was a street performer with a group of Peruvian, Chinese street performers doing Kung Foo and sword fighting. He worked in farms taking care of the animals in Central America. After traveling for seven years and living in nine countries he obtained political asylum in Vancouver.
